COVID-19 VIC: Business – COVIDSafe Deep Cleaning Rebate
OverviewThis program aims to help businesses cover the cost of cleaning after closing a worksite due to a suspected or confirmed coronavirus (COVID‑19) case. It is part of the COVIDSafe Business Fund that assists industry and business with the management of workplace coronavirus transmission.
The purpose of this support is to reduce or limit instances of workplace transmission of COVID-19 and to limit out of pocket cleaning expenses for eligible businesses.
The rebate will cover up to 80% of the cleaning costs at each worksite, capped at a grant of $10,000 (for a total cleaning cost of $12,500).
If multiple professional cleaning service providers are required to undertake the specialist onsite cleaning, this is permissible up to the $10,000 (excluding GST) cap amount.
Eligible applicants include businesses that must:
- Operate from a COVID-19 affected worksite in Victoria (Worksite).
- Attest to having a suspected or confirmed onsite COVID-19 case.
- Have undertaken a ‘deep clean’ or ‘decontamination clean’ of the affected worksite by a professional cleaning service in accordance with Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) COVID-19 cleaning guidelines (COVID-19 ‘deep clean’ or
‘decontamination clean’.
- Have evidence of the expenditure incurred for the cost of the decontamination cleaning at the affected worksite and payment of the expenditure, and further, all of the following must apply:
a) Hold a valid Australian Business Number (ABN).
b) Have an annual payroll of less than $3 million in 2019-20 on an ungrouped basis.
c) Be registered with WorkSafe if employing people.
d) Be registered as a trading business with the responsible Federal or State regulator.
Businesses that have received funding from other initiatives under the Victorian Government’s Economic Survival Package and Business Support Package are eligible to apply for this program.
Eligible activities include engaging a professional cleaning service to perform a decontamination cleaning at the worksite under the DHHS COVID-19 Guidelines.
A decontamination clean includes two elements of cleaning and then disinfection of the site.
